Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most before a survey gets scheduled

Depending on urgency, we can often get an inspector out the same day. Sample results can come back within one business day, and the full report usually takes about two business days total.

No, most of our customers aren’t. Here’s what we need from you.

Access to the property, usually a lock box code, a door code, or someone letting us in.

The scope of work: what the plans are for the building, whether it’s a demolition or a renovation, which areas will be affected, and what materials are going to be disturbed. This is critical to helping us determine what materials need to be sampled and tested.

Once we’re on site, we require access to all areas that are going to be disturbed, which depending on your plans can include crawl spaces and attic access. A full demolition means the entire home must be accessible to us.

It depends on the scope of work. As a general idea:

  • Single material: 30+ minutes
  • Single area, like a kitchen or bathroom: 45+ minutes
  • Full home demolition: 1 to 2+ hours
  • Commercial: varies widely with the size of the building and the scope of work

A few things push that longer. Accessibility, the size of the home, whether utilities are on, and the condition of the property. Hoarding situations and vacant or occupied abandoned properties take significantly more time.

If you need a clearer picture, or you have a specific window we need to work within, let us know when you book and we’ll give you a more accurate estimate.

You pick a time and date that works for you. We’ll follow up promptly to confirm your scope of work and lock that slot in on our calendar. You’ll receive a confirmation text the day before your appointment to make sure the plans haven’t changed.

On the day, your inspector meets you on site, collects the samples, documents and maps the areas, and takes the images needed for your survey. Once on site, the inspector can give you a rough idea of how many samples will be taken. The final count comes down to their professional judgment and what’s actually present, since some materials are hidden or can’t be identified until an inspector has eyes on the project.

Payment is taken on site by the inspector. We accept all major credit cards, debit, and cash.

Samples go to the lab and are analyzed on the turnaround you selected, next business day or three business days. Once results are in we’ll communicate them to you, and your full report follows by email as a digital copy you can save, print, or forward to your contractor.

Reports are released once payment has been completed.

If you need to reschedule, we ask for at least 24 hours notice.
